The community in and around Garvagh are experiencing a huge
challenge in the Olympic year 2012.
Three churches in the town - First Garvagh Presbyterian, Main Street Presbyterian
and St. Paul's Parish along with the TBF and KL Thompson Trust are challenging the community to "A Life Worth Living"
with varioua events and competitions throughout 2012.
During the coming months various events are planned including
a Scottish evening on 24th February, a St, Patrick's event on 16th March, Taming the Tiger evening on 11th March when
Tony Antony will speak about his amazing experiences as a 3 time World Champion Kung Fu Fighter, elite bodyguard and prisoner.
There will be an Easter Egg Hunt, a Street Party and numerous other goings-on not to be missed! Various competitions
will be held including, bowling, football, baking, quizzes, tennis tournaments, treasure hunts to mention but a few.
There will be activities for Children and Youth with a special team made up form all three churches and a combined Praise
Band has been put together especially for 2012. These events are for everyone, every denomination, every person who
lives in, works in, drives throughm or visits Garvagh.
All these activites will culminate in a huge two-week event
from 4th to 18th November when the Engineering Workshop at TBF Thompsons will be transformed into a large comfortable auditorium
seating up to 1,000 people with parking for over 400 cars. The Challenge Team have invited a lively and relevant speaker
Jim Stewart from Perth in Scotland. Jim has already visited Garvagh at a launch night in First Garvagh Presbyterian
on 23rd November when he urged everyone to get involved in the special Challenge Garvagh in 2012.
